Cook Time: 10–12 minutes
Makes: ~24 wontons
Ingredients
For the Filling:
1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
2 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp sour cream
½ tsp vanilla extract
1 tbsp all-purpose flour
1 large egg (for sealing)
¾ cup finely chopped fresh or canned peaches (drained if canned or thawed if frozen)
For Assembly:
24 wonton wrappers (2-inch squares)
Small bowl of water (to help seal edges)
Neutral oil for frying (like vegetable or canola)
Instructions
1. Make the Cream Filling
In a medium bowl, mix together:
Cream cheese
Sugar
Sour cream
Vanilla extract
Flour
Stir until smooth and creamy. Gently fold in chopped peaches.
2. Assemble the Wontons
Beat the egg in a small bowl.
Lay out a few wonton wrappers at a time (keep the rest covered with a damp towel).
Place 1 heaping teaspoon of filling in the center of each wrapper.
Lightly brush the edges with egg wash or water.
Fold into a triangle or bring all corners up to create a purse shape. Press edges firmly to seal.
3. Fry the Wontons
Heat about 2 inches of oil in a deep skillet or saucepan to 350°F (175°C).
Fry 4–5 wontons at a time, turning as needed, until golden brown (about 2–3 minutes).
Remove and place on a paper towel–lined plate to drain excess oil.
4. Serve
Serve warm, optionally dusted with:
Powdered sugar
Cinnamon sugar
Or Vanilla Peach Glaze
½ cup peach preserves or peach jam
2 tbsp powdered sugar
1 tbsp butter
½ tsp vanilla extract
1–2 tsp water or lemon juice (to thin as needed)
Make the Vanilla Peach Glaze
In a small saucepan over medium heat:
Melt peach preserves and butter together.
Whisk in powdered sugar, vanilla, and a splash of water or lemon juice.
Simmer for 1–2 minutes until smooth and pourable.
These are best enjoyed fresh, while crispy and gooey inside!
