Korean Bulgogi Beef Lettuce Wraps

Servings: 4 (makes about 12 wraps)

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Marinate Time: 30 minutes to overnight

Cook Time: 10 minutes


Ingredients

  • 1 lb steak (ribeye, sirloin, or flank), thinly sliced against the grain

  • 1 small pear, grated (Asian pear preferred)

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce

  • 2 tbsp brown sugar

  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

  • 1 tbsp garlic paste

  • 1 tbsp freshly grated ginger

  • 1 tbsp gochujang (adjust to taste)

  • 1 tbsp olive oil (for cooking)

  • 2 green onions, sliced

  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds, toasted

  • 1 head butter lettuce, Bibb, or romaine hearts – leaves separated and rinsed

  • Optional: julienned carrots, cucumber, kimchi, or cooked rice for serving


Instructions

  1. Make the Marinade In a medium bowl, combine grated pear, soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic paste, grated ginger, and gochujang. Mix until smooth.

  2. Marinate the Beef Add the sliced steak to the marinade. Toss to coat well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight for best flavor.

  3. Cook the Beef Heat olive oil in a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat.Add beef in batches and cook for 2–3 minutes per side until browned and cooked through. Set aside.

  4. Assemble the Lettuce Wraps Spoon cooked bulgogi beef into individual lettuce leaves.Top with sliced green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds.Add optional toppings like julienned veggies, kimchi, or a spoon of rice if desired.

  5. Serve Immediately Serve as a fun DIY platter or pre-assembled wraps. Best enjoyed warm!


Sauces for extra flavor:

  • Spicy Gochujang Mayo: Mix 2 tbsp mayo + 1 tsp gochujang + splash of lime juice

  • Soy-Garlic Dip: Soy sauce + rice vinegar + minced garlic + a pinch of sugar

  • Sesame Dressing: Toasted sesame oil + soy sauce + honey + rice vinegar
